Taipei, Taiwan — May 25, 2025 — Apex Storage, in collaboration with Phison Electronics Inc., showcased groundbreaking NVMe performance during COMPUTEX

2025, the world’s premier technology exhibition.

The demonstration featured the Apex X16 Gen5 NVMe add-in card, designed to support up to 16 NVMe drives. It achieves remarkable speeds exceeding 54 GB/s for

sequential read and write operations and performance surpassing 30 million Input/Output Operations per Second (IOPS) per card.

Apex Storage and Phison presented an unprecedented industry-first setup involving two Apex X16 Gen5 cards and 32 Phison E28 NVMe drives configured in an array.

This configuration delivered unparalleled read and write throughput of 113 GB/s and 104GB/s, respectively, as validated by CrystalDiskMark running on Windows 11.

The demonstration workstation utilized a Light Base 900 chassis, a thermally optimized case provided by Be Quiet!, proving that the Phison E28 NVMe drives could be

efficiently cooled using consumer-grade cooling solutions, eliminating the necessity for individual NVMe heatsinks on 14.9 GB/s enthusiast-class SSDs.
